The Monastir Airport is the international airport of the Tunisian city of Monastir . It is named after the Tunisian state founder Habib Bourguiba and was mainly served by charter airlines until 2011 . In 2007, the Turkish company TAV Airports Holding was awarded the contract to operate the airport from January 1, 2008 as part of a tender. The most important tourist airport in Tunisia until 2011, it has lost much of its importance after the opening of Enfidha Airport .

The airport has a train stop for the Tunisian state railway SNCFT and is served by the so-called Métro du Sahel .

There have been no serious incidents in the history of the airport.
