Dreiherrenstein

Since the 15th century, the numerous existing boundaries in the Rennsteig area, which were previously identified by terrain features, streams, ditches and markings on trees and rocks, began to be marked even more clearly by setting special boundary stones. Over the centuries, the number of stones set on the Rennsteig added up to 1007 objects.

The Dreiherrenstein an der Hohen Heide was set in 1846 and marked the border between the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . Fehrenbach's Werra spring is located near the Dreiherrenstein .

The Dreiherrenstein on the Hohen Heide is protected as a historical boundary stone and part of the Rennsteig cultural monument.
