Instance ("closed unit", from Latin instantia ) stands for:
- Instance (law) , a section of the procedure before a specific court
- a copy of a set of similar things
- a copy of a certain data type in object-oriented programming, see object (programming)
- Instance (computer science) , a specific input for which a specific question has to be answered (theoretical computer science)
- Instance (computer game) , in online role-playing games temporary copies of "dungeons" for individual groups of players
