Management office

Forwarding stations ( instances ) are in the organization teaching points , where the tasks of the foreign decision -, give instructions and control authorities are assigned.

General

The organizational theory differentiates between line positions and support positions. The former include the management and executive bodies . The management bodies take on the lead over the execution bodies and all supporting bodies. In order to carry out this management, management tasks are assigned to the management positions, which are connected with the authorization that superiors ( service superiors / technical superiors ) may issue orders to subordinate workers . Instances are therefore management bodies with technical and disciplinary authority .

Often management positions are also assigned to assistant positions .

content

The management tasks include making external decisions, converting the decisions into orders and external control of the execution. For this purpose, the management positions are assigned four functions , namely planning , decision-making , arrangement and control . In 1962 Erich Kosiol added the initiative function, which means that the management office exercises the right and the duty to take the initiative. In this delegation , the principle of congruence of the organization must be observed, which requires an equal transfer of management tasks, competencies and responsibility . If the management position equipped in this way is filled by a manager , it is a team leader , group leader , department head , department head or board member / managing director - according to the ascending hierarchy level .

hierarchy

There is a pronounced depth of management when the total number of hierarchical levels is large. If the number of management positions on the same hierarchical level is large, it is a question of a pronounced line width (“flat hierarchy”). The line depth and width also depend on the line or control span. This is to be understood as the number of employees who report to a manager. This must be taken into account when creating management positions. If the span of control in terms of the number of a line location immediately subordinates too high, there is an overload of management . If management positions are relieved by staff units, the management positions receive more staff capacity for their management tasks, which results in a larger and relieving line span.
