Institute for window technology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Institute for Window Technology e. V. (IFT, spelling ift Rosenheim ), together with the affiliated ift Rosenheim GmbH, is a scientific service provider for manufacturers of windows and facades . It was founded in 1966 and employs around 200 people.

Main areas of activity

The main focus of the IFT's activities is the testing of windows and facades, E.g. B. Fire tests , glass tests and sound insulation tests .

The testing of windows and facades ranges from standard tests of standardized properties to the determination of the usability of the products, taking into account the purpose, stress and expected service life. The IFT has testing options for product properties of windows and facades, for example to simulate driving rain , static and dynamic wind loads up to a maximum test specimen size of 10 by 14 meters.

The IFT noise protection center has test rigs to check the sound insulation of building elements. In addition to windows and doors, this also includes entire facades, interior and exterior walls, roofs and ceilings. By using overhead cranes (maximum load of 25 tons in the test hall), heavy elements can also be lifted into the test stands and then tested. In addition to laboratory tests, building noise measurements for objects are also offered.

Products with security properties are tested by the IFT for burglar resistance (see also resistance class ).
