The legal form of the iuf is that of a non-profit association .

Self-declared goals are:

  • ... actively working towards a change in politics by working together with German and international experts to develop, demand and propagate market economy reforms.
  • ... constant influence on public opinion ...
  • ... advocate an economic policy that creates the basis for entrepreneurial initiative and free competition .

There are personal and interdependent interests with the climate change denier organization European Institute for Climate and Energy (EIKE). For example, Charles B. Blankart , who sits on the board of the IuF, stated that EIKE and the Institute for Entrepreneurial Freedom are "almost the same".
