Institutional center for collaboration with the older adult

The Institutional Center for Cooperation with Older Adults ("Centro Interinstitucional de Colaboración con el Adulto Mayor", CICAM) is a Uruguayan non-governmental organization .

The CICAM, organized as a non-profit association ( Asociación civil sin fines de lucro ), which has its own legal personality, was founded in 1991 and is based in Montevideo . Co-founder was Silvia Tron . CICAM is chaired by Dione Di Matteo . The CICAM is committed to improving the quality of life for older people. She offers senior citizens legal and psychological support and conducts courses and workshops. The current 41 courses (as of August 2010) cover a broad spectrum, including foreign language courses, computer courses or activities in the areas of communication, handicrafts and physical activities as well as excursions and guided tours. The planning of the organizational activities, which is drawn up by a senior executive board elected annually, is being implemented with great support from lecturers and volunteers. The 380 members of the CICAM and 75 volunteers are currently involved in this (as of August 2010). Via Radio Uruguay / CX 26 , ( SODRE ), CICAM broadcasts a weekly radio program called Espacio Vida on Saturdays , in which the members of the journalism workshop also participate.
