The Lakes National Park is a national park in the Gippsland Lakes area and is located in eastern Gippsland in the Australian state of Victoria , 245 km from Melbourne .
The 23.9 km² park covers the northeast half of Ninety Mile Beach and parts of the headland between Lake Reeve and Lake Victoria. The slightly larger Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park connects to the southwest .
The protected areas include sandy spits and the adjacent coastal waters and lagoons. The wetlands provide habitat for 20,000 sea birds, including many migratory birds. 400 native plant species and 300 animal species occur there.
