The Lind National Park is a national park in the east of the Australian state of Victoria . It is located in eastern Gippsland on the Princes Highway between Orbost and Cann River , 353 km east of Melbourne . The 1,370 hectare area was declared a national park in 1925 and named after Sir Albert Lind , Victoria's former Agriculture Minister, who inaugurated five new national parks.
history
During the Victorian gold rush in the second half of the 19th century, gold was also panned in the streams in this area. The small town of Club Terrace is named after the Ace of Clubs mine and overburden terraces that remained after the gold prospecting stopped.
vegetation
In the Lind National Park there is a warm, temperate rainforest with a wide variety of eucalyptus species , e.g. B. Gray Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus punctata), Messmate Ash and Silvertop Ash. You can find hippopotamus along the streams . The Telopea flowers deep red from October to December.
Facilities
There is a picnic area at Grawler Creek . The Euchre Valley Nature Drive allows you to traverse the rainforest by car.
