The Morwell National Park is a national park with 565 hectares in southern Gippsland in the Australian state of Victoria . It is located about 140 kilometers east of Melbourne and 16 kilometers south of Morwell in the Strzelecki Mountains .
There are remnants of the previously widespread hardwood forest . Temperate rainforest is limited to deep ravines. 320 different plant species have been identified in the park, including five rare and threatened species and 44 orchid species . The fauna consists of 129 species: 19 species of mammals, 96 species of birds, eleven species of reptiles and three species of amphibians.
Weeds and introduced animal species pose a threat to the original ecosystem of the small national park.
