The Terrick Terrick National Park is a national park in the north of the Australian state of Victoria , 225 km northwest of Melbourne , 45 km west of Echuca and 65 km north of Bendigo .

Flora, fauna and culture

In the park north of the small town of Mitiamo there are significant remnants of eucalyptus forest of the box-ironbark species , as well as flat grassland typical of northern Victoria. The park is also near the Kow Swamp (to the north on the Murray River ), where paleontological finds have been made that offer insights into the origins of the Aborigines .

The Terrick-Terrick National Park is one of the last refuge areas for the steppe runner , an endangered species of bird.

Facilities

There are several hiking trails and a simply equipped campsite in the park. Drinking water is not available and must therefore be brought by the visitors themselves.
