Institutiones

Institutiones (Germanized and institutions ) is the title of two legal beginners textbooks from the Roman Empire:

• Institutiones (Gaius) from the middle of the 2nd century AD
• Institutiones Iustiniani , which belonged to the legal codification of Emperor Justinian I in the 6th century

as well as an important text by Cassiodorus that was widely used in the Middle Ages :

• Institutiones divinarum et saecularium litterarum
