The Instituto San Sebastián de Yumbel (ISS) is a Catholic elementary and middle school in Yumbel , Chile .
history
It was founded on October 6, 1879 by the then Archbishop José Hipólito Salas under the name Seminario de San Sebastián and renamed in 1905. The school, named after the patron saint, Saint Sebastian , has also offered adult education in evening classes since 1881 and had a kindergarten since the 1920s. It is the oldest school in the Región del Bío-Bío founded by the Archdiocese of Concepción .
Sponsorship and number of students
The sponsor is the Fundación Cristo Rey de Concepción, to which five other school institutions are subordinate, but which only came into being from the 1950s. The school receives financial support from the state.
In 2012 the number of students enrolled was: 610 with 34 teachers.
