Musical instrument insurance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The musical instrument insurance is a property insurance that protects the owner against loss, destruction or damage to the insured musical instrument . All damage that may occur during the insurance period is insured (all-risk cover). These include transportation, transportation accidents, theft, loss, robbery, fire, lightning, explosions, water and elementary events. The damage covered by the musical instrument insurance goes beyond the risk coverage of the household contents insurance , which only covers musical instruments if they are stored at home and not played. A musical instrument insurance covers the dangers of transport, leaving it lying around, falling down or other damage; However, no insurance cover is provided for scratches, manufacturing defects or signs of wear.

The current or new value of the instrument is insured , whereby the new value must be estimated and proven to the insurance company . The current value insurance covers the value of the instrument at the time of the loss and should therefore be re-determined every two years by an instrument maker or dealer. The annual insurance premium depends on the sum insured (the current or new value of the insured instrument ) from which the premium rate is calculated and decreases as the sum insured increases .

The scope of a musical instrument insurance usually extends to global coverage.

In addition to policies for individuals, there are also group contracts that orchestras, music schools and clubs can conclude, for example. The insurance then applies to every instrument in the group, even if it is not mentioned in the policy. New instruments are automatically insured.
