Smart patch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An intelligent plaster or smart plaster is a plaster with which wound healing can be measured and monitored. The data can be transmitted to a computer or to the doctor or patient using a mobile app .

The use of such a plaster aims to reduce the number of dressing changes by caregivers and should thus reduce the risk of infections and irritation of the skin, as fewer bacteria get to the wound through less frequent dressing changes .

Empa digital patch

The Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) presented in 2018 a prototype of an intelligent patch in front, on the measurement of light intensity is based, which indicates, as the pH changed. The pH sensor consists of benzalkonium chloride and pyranine . The light intensity can be read out with the aid of a fluorescence measuring device.
