InterNetNews (abbreviated INN ) is an open source news server that was written in 1991 by Rich Salz . It has been provided by the Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) since 1996 and is mainly further developed by Russ Allbery. It is under the ISC license .

It can be operated on all known Unix systems and is able to exchange messages directly with other news servers via NNTP and is now considered a reference implementation .
