from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Academy of Quantum Molecular Science (IAQMS) is a scientific society for quantum chemistry .

The academy was founded in 1967 in Menton by Professors Raymond Daudel and Bernard Pullman from France, Per-Olov Löwdin from Sweden and Robert G. Parr and John A. Pople from the USA under the patronage of Louis de Broglie . The founding members also included Charles Coulson and Clemens CJ Roothaan . Originally there were regular and senior members and a membership limit, both of which were lifted in 2007. Membership is considered an honor.

Every three years they organize congresses on quantum chemistry (International Congress of Quantum Chemistry), first in 1973 in Menton. The 16th Congress will take place again in Menton in 2018. It alternates with the WATOC Congress.

A medal is awarded to young scientists every year.
