International Baseball Federation
The International Baseball Federation (IBAF) was from 1938 to 2013 the World Baseball Association , based in Lausanne in Switzerland .
The association was founded in 1938 . Over the years the name of the association has changed a few times. From 1944 the official name was Federación Internacional de Béisbol Amateur (FIBA) , in 1973 the competing association split off with the name Federación Mundial de Béisbol Amateur (FEMBA) . However, the associations reunited in 1976, this time under the name International Baseball Association (AINBA) . In 1984 the official abbreviation was changed to IBA , before a return to the original name International Baseball Federation and the original abbreviation IBAF was agreed in 2000 .
In 2013 the association merged with the International Softball Federation to form the World Baseball Softball Confederation .
