The International Biogeography Society ( IBS for short ) is a specialist society founded in 2001 for research into the geography of life ( biogeography ).

The non-profit organization sees its task in supporting networking approaches between biogeographers in various academic fields. Internally, the company wants to make this branch of science better known in the academic community and strengthen its reputation. The training of young scientists in biogeographical fields is to be supported in order to be able to record the worldwide biota properly and professionally.
