International Campaign for Tibet

The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) is a human rights organization that advocates the right to democratic self-determination, the safeguarding of human rights and the protection of the local culture and environment in Tibet .

ICT, headquartered in Washington, DC , was founded in 1988 and has offices in Amsterdam , Brussels and Berlin . It is the largest non-governmental organization that stands up for the interests of Tibetans. In 2006 more than 100,000 members were registered. Chairman of the Board of Directors has been Richard Gere since 1995 (as of 2/2017).

The German representation has the legal status of a registered association and is recognized as non-profit. She has been a member of the sponsoring association of the German Institute for Human Rights since 2016 . The chairman of the board is Jan Andersson . She is the editor of the German-language Tibet Journal , which has been published three times a year since 2003 with a circulation of around 13,000 copies in the print version and is also available as an online version.
