International Commission for Acoustics

The International Commission for Acoustics (ICA) is an association of acousticians from a wide variety of fields with the aim of promoting international cooperation and further development for all sub-areas of acoustics in research, development, teaching and standardization.

The commission was established in 1951 as a sub-committee of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) . Every three years it organizes an international congress on acoustic topics at different venues.

The first of these International Congresses on Acoustics took place in Delft in 1953 , the 23rd International Congress on Acoustics is from 9 to 13 September 2019 in Aachen .
