The International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) is the world umbrella organization of national management consultancy associations . In 2016, 48 countries belonged to the ICMCI.

Tasks and structure

ICMCI was founded in 1987 and has been called CMC-Global since 2013.

The association sees its task in the exchange of information between the member associations, in the definition of a minimum standard ( Common Body of Knowledge ) and a quality award (CMC - Certified Management Consultant ), which is awarded on a license basis under strict international control by the member associations in order to establish quality standards for management consultants such as in an international comparison also available with auditors or civil engineers. Furthermore, ethical aspects or basic professional values ​​and transparency are of great importance.

Under the leadership of CMC-Global and, above all, its German-speaking member associations, the ISO standard 20700 for management consulting, expected for 2017, was also developed.

Organizationally, the CMC-Global works in regional clusters (Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia) so-called "hubs". President of the CMC-Global is Sorin Caian (ROM), President of the European Hub Jan Willem Kradolfer (NL).

National German-speaking member associations are:

In 2019, the CMC-Global has around 34,000 members, who are, however, members through the individual associations.

Certified Management Consultant (CMC)

A larger group of people outside the industry is familiar with the CMC (Certified Management Consultant) certification, which is typically used as a title abbreviation after the name, for people who have undergone a certification process established by the ICMCI, which is based on a comprehensive set of rules.

In 2019 there were 6,708 certified people in 48 member countries. The certification is especially widespread in North America, Asia and Europe and enjoys an international reputation.
