The International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) was founded in 1957 and is a non-governmental, not-for-profit , scientific organization whose aim is to promote the free exchange of information on aviation topics . Globally recognized national associations or clubs that are dedicated to the advancement of science and technology in the aerospace industry are eligible for membership in the ICAS.
activity
Today the ICAS has 29 member societies and 35 partners from many countries. It is also supported by aerospace companies and scientific and technical institutions. The aim of the ICAS is to create a worldwide forum for the discussion and exchange of problems and issues relating to space travel, as well as the promotion of international cooperation.
Conferences
The ICAS holds an international aerospace congress every two years . The venue is chosen by the General Assembly and varies from congress to congress. The last congress took place on September 9-14. September 2018 in Belo Horizonte .
The ICAS sponsored congresses such as the AIAA , Isabe and SAE conferences on the basis of mutual agreements between the associations involved.
structure
The ICAS consists of three levels; the General Assembly (convened every two years), the Executive Committee (meets at least once a year) and the Program Committee (meets annually). The secretariat of the ICAS has been running the German Aerospace Society (DGLR) since January 2011 .
