The International Cup 1935/36 was an ice hockey competition for teams from England and France. It emerged from the European Cup played last year , in which the English and French teams had dominated. The European Cup 1935/36 was therefore held without the participation of English teams. The competition was organized by Jeff Dickson, a Paris- based American sports promoter who, among other things, directed the Palais des Sports de Paris and organized boxing matches . Since only teams from London and Paris participated, it was also known as the London-Paris Interclub Tournament .
The eight participants, six English and two French, played a preliminary round in two groups. Everyone played against every leg and leg. The first two groups qualified for the semi-finals, which, like the final, were played in a two-legged manner. The two French teams qualified for the semi-finals, but the final was an all-English game. The Wembley Lions won the competition.
In the following year the competition was limited to English teams and was continued under the name English National Tournament .
