European Cup 1934/35
The Europa Cup 1934/35 was the first international ice hockey competition in Europe . Ten teams from England, France, Germany, Italy and Czechoslovakia took part. Participants from Austria and Switzerland were also originally planned. The competition was organized by Jeff Dickson, a Paris- based American sports promoter who, among other things, directed the Palais des Sports de Paris and organized boxing matches .
The ten participants played a preliminary round in two groups, each against each other with a return leg. The top two teams in each group qualified for the finals. This, too, was played every against everybody in the two legs. The English and French teams dominated the competition. The winner was the team Streatham , which also won the championship of the English League that year .
In the following year, the competition was divided into the International Cup 1935/36 for English and French teams and the European Cup 1935/36 for French clubs and teams from Central and Eastern Europe.

Stade Français and Streatham had each won a game against each other. The result of the last game Streatham against HC Milano would have brought the decision to second place - Streatham would have needed a 3-0 to overtake Stade Français. Streatham therefore offered Stade Français to play playoffs for second place instead, which the French accepted. Streatham only won 3-1 against Milano.
