The International POPs Elimination Network ( IPEN for short ) is a network of over 500 non-governmental organizations, such as ChemSec , who campaign for environmental and health protection against toxic and otherwise dangerous chemicals .
IPEN was founded in Sweden in 1998 with the aim of regulating and banning persistent organic pollutants , so-called POP. The network was instrumental in initiating and shaping the Stockholm Convention against POP. Since then, the network has significantly expanded its area of responsibility and is now basically working on all harmful chemicals, including as an actor in the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM, German: Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management ).
From 2010-2018, Olga Speranskaya was chairman of the organization .
