ChemSec
ChemSec ( International Chemical Secretariat ) is an international environmental protection organization based in Gothenburg .
purpose
The organization was founded in 2002 with the aim of advocating stricter regulation of potentially dangerous chemical substances and, through cooperation with industry and trade, to achieve that the manufacture and use of dangerous substances in products and supply chains can be reduced. Substances of very high concern that meet the SVHC criteria of the REACH regulation are included in the SIN list ( Substitute It Now! ). The list contains 830 entries (as of January 2015).

ChemSec provides various tools on its website:
- Marketplace: Marketplace for substitutes for hazardous chemicals
- SIN List: List of chemicals that should be substituted
- SIN Producers: manufacturer or user of such chemicals
- SINimilarity: Checking the structural similarity to chemicals on the SIN List
- SUBSPORT: Information platform on alternatives (chemical substitutes or alternative technologies)
- Textile Guide: Assistance for textile chemicals

The board consists of one representative from each of the four founding organizations:
- Svenska Naturskyddsföreningen , Helena Norin (Chair)
- WWF Sweden, Erik Pettersson
- Friends of the Earth Sweden, Sven-Erik Sjöstrand
- Fältbiologerna Sweden, Haldor Lorimer-Olsson
The organization is funded by the Swedish government, charitable organizations and other non-governmental organizations .
