The International German Supermoto Championship IDM is a supermoto championship with international participation. ADAC Saarland is the organizer and promoter of the series .

The championship is divided into performance and age classes. In class S1 of the International German Supermoto Championship , the best in the ranking compete against each other, the premier class of the Supermoto IDM. If drivers have fought for first to third place in the event classification on the race weekend, they are entitled to a guest start in group S1 from the last row of the grid. In the S2, the DMSB Supermoto Championship , there are equally good drivers due to the promotion and relegation regulations. The S3 is called the DMSB Supermoto Cup.

Many racing drivers compete in their first season in the S4 class , whose rating is divided into east and west - there is a shoot-out to determine the overall winner of this class. The entry-level class S5 is suitable for fans to try out, as there is only ever one day's rating. All of the aforementioned classes are run as predicate runs of the German Motor Sport Association DMSB , the following classes are in the ADAC Trophy .

There are guest starters not only in the entry-level classes, but also in the S1 to S3 grade races. Here z. B. Drivers who were or are active in foreign series start in the equivalent class, but will not receive any championship points. In order to maintain the tension here too, according to the DMSB regulations, these can also be divided into other classes during the season.

The youngest racing drivers start in the classes rookies (8–12 years / 50–65 cm 3 ), juniors (10–16 years / 65–85 cm 3 ) and youngsters ( 12–17 years / 85–150 cm 3 ) Two-stroke engines . Four-stroke engines , which may have a higher displacement, are also allowed for the juniors and youngsters . Rookies and juniors start together, but are rated separately, the youngsters start with the adults. There are special races in the 40+ class for those over forty.

Classification

Since the Supermoto IDM wants to offer exciting races and no driver should dominate a class, a DMSB technical committee from class S4 upwards evaluates each individual driver at the beginning of a season based on their results from the previous year and creates so-called grading lists with names of drivers who move up a class must or can or whether they can go one class back.
