from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Handel Academy in Karlsruhe is one of the institutions that is committed to maintaining the work of the baroque composer Georg Friedrich Handel and his time.

Since 1986, parallel to the Karlsruhe International Handel Festival, the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe has offered masterclasses in historical performance practice and a scientific symposium. Again and again, lecturers and courses at the academy gave important impulses for the performance practice of the festival. For example, the director Sigrid T'Hooft gave gesture courses as part of the International Handel Academy before her directorial work in historical performance practice as part of the successes with Lotario and, above all, with Radamisto . Many members of the German Handel Soloists give or gave courses. In 2016, for the first time, participants from the academy took part in the orchestra at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe .

Thomas Seedorf is the artistic director , from 2014 to 2018 together with Michael Fichtenholz .
