Thomas Seedorf

Thomas Seedorf (* 1960 in Bremerhaven ) is a German musicologist and university professor.

Life

Seedorf studied school music and German studies in Hanover . He then completed a degree in musicology and pedagogy as well as singing at the University of Music and Theater (doctorate: 1988 with a dissertation on the compositional reception of Mozart in the early 20th century).

From 1988 to 2006, Seedorf was a research assistant at the musicological seminar at the University of Freiburg . Since 2006 he has been Professor of Musicology at the Institute for Musicology and Music Informatics at the Karlsruhe University of Music .

Seedorf primarily conducts research in the areas of music theory , music of the 20th century, song history and analysis, performance practice and, in particular, the theory and history of art singing .

Together with Michael Fichtenholz , he is the artistic director of the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe and the International Handel Academy .

Seedorf is also first chairman of the International Schubert Society and co-editor of the Reger edition .
