Emilio Savorgnan

Emilio Savorgnan (* 8. November 1918 in Cagliari ) is an Italian diplomat in retirement .

Life

He is the son of Franco Rodolfo Savorgnan, who was President of the National Statistics Institute of Italy. He married Raffaella de Savorgnan.

In 1940 he received his doctorate in law .

In 1948 he entered the foreign service, became Vice Consul in Toulon in 1952 and second class legation secretary in Cairo in 1955 . From 1960 to August 13, 1964 he was legation secretary in London . In 1964 he was employed in Paris , Bonn and Brussels .

From 1964 to September 1969 he headed the Latin America, Asia and Oceania Department in the General Office for Migration and Social Affairs. In 1967 he was awarded the rank of Ministre plénipotentiaire . From September 1969 to April 1973 he was Ambassador to Guatemala to President Carlos Arana Osorio . From April 1973 to 1976 he was ambassador to Lima ( Peru ). From 1977 to 1983 he was an ambassador and observer to the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States .

He was retired in 1983 and has lived in Washington, DC ever since
