International plastic house exhibition in the world

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The international plastic house exhibition of the world (short: ika ) was an exhibition in Lüdenscheid - Höh on a specially prepared area on the subject of plastic houses . It took place from 1971 to 1973 and was considered a flop. The sponsor was the Sauerland leisure and recreation facilities building company ( SABAG ) . The area was 70,000 m². It was visited by around 500,000 people, but the sales exhibition was not financially successful. “The concepts of the plastic house were not accepted by the general public.” In addition, the 1972 oil crisis resulted in enormous plastic prices. The company generated a deficit of 3 million marks . SABAG then filed for bankruptcy , whereupon the objects were foreclosed in 1975. Today you can't see anything of the exhibition. The property was largely recaptured from nature. Many newspapers reported on this event, including Der Spiegel. High-ranking politicians like Willi Weyer and Willy Brandt came .
