Interpretation key

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Interpretation key is a systematic compilation of characteristic features of the objects to be interpreted and analyzed in images, usually in the form of illustrated examples.

The main differences are:

  • Selection key
The selection keys are prepared in such a way that the object structure to be interpreted can be selected based on the example
  • Elimination key
Elimination keys are designed in such a way that the selected interpreter decides from two or more variants for the one that comes closest to the object structure to be interpreted, eliminates the others and thereby gradually approaches the result.

The interpretation key is, for example, a tool for analyzing photographic images, for example when mapping biotope types from color infrared (CIR) aerial images.
