Ion Cubicec

Ion Cubicec (born November 10, 1917 in Romania , † October 13, 1998 in San Salvador ) was a Salvadoran music teacher and composer of Romanian origin.

Cubicec studied music in Bucharest and Vienna. In 1950 he emigrated to El Salvador and received a chair for harmony, counterpoint and composition at the Escuela de Música from the Ministry of Culture . In the same year he founded the Sociedad Coral Salvadoreña , which later became known as Coro Nacional de El Salvador . In 1957 he became a citizen of El Salvador. In 1962 he took over the management of the music department of the Escuela Normal Superior , in 1968 he became director of culture at the Ministry of Education and in 1974 director of the Department of Extensión Musical at the Universidad de El Salvador . His compositions include the Miniaturas , with which young pianists are introduced to the musical styles and languages ​​of the 20th century.
