The Ābgineh Museum or Iranian Museum of Glass and Ceramics is a museum in Tehran . The exhibition is organized historically and thematically and can be seen in six halls and two entrance halls.

history

The property was commissioned by Ahmad Qavam (Qavam-al-Saltaneh) at the beginning of the 20th century and was used as an office by Qavam himself until 1953. The 1040 m² building later changed hands several times. It initially served as the Egyptian embassy , then was bought by the Bank for Commerce and sold to Farah Pahlavi's office in 1976 , which turned it into a museum. The museum opened in 1980 and was added to the National Heritage List in 1998.

The exhibits include rare clay pots from the 4th millennium. v. BC to the present day as well as glass work from the 1st Jtd. v. Until today. European glasswork from the 18th and 19th centuries can also be seen.
