Irini Qirjako

Irini Qirjako is an Albanian solo singer and actress from Finiq , Albania . She is one of the most famous folk singers in southern Albania. She sings about numerous Tuscan folk songs as well as mostly self-composed potpourri (alb. Potpuri ). She not only appears solo, but also often in polyphonic groups that are traditional for southern Albania .

Awards

• In 2005 the then President Alfred Moisiu named her Mjeshtre e madhe (in English "Great Master"), a very coveted award in Albania.
• Qirjako is also Qytetare nderi (honorary citizen) of Saranda .

Private

Irini has been married to Maksi Qirjako , an officer in the Albanian Army , since 1980 . Riviola is their only daughter together who studied medicine.
