Iris Kolhoff-Kahl

Iris Kolhoff-Kahl (born November 10, 1963 in Leverkusen ) is a German pedagogue, specialist didactician and professor of textile design and its didactics as well as fashion-textile-design studies and their communication at the University of Paderborn.

From 1982 to 1987 Kolhoff-Kahl studied teaching with the subjects textile design and English and from 1987 to 1990 pedagogy in the diploma course with a focus on youth and adult education at the University of Cologne. In 1995 she did her doctorate at the University of Cologne with the subject The educational value of painting and drawing courses: empirically determined self-assessments of those involved and historical examples . Research priorities

Kolhoff-Kahl's research focuses on pedagogical action concepts in school and extracurricular occupational fields, which are researched and further developed for the cultural communication of textile topics and media. Aesthetic educational issues, the promotion of creativity, transculturality and gender, as well as neurobiology and theories of perception form fundamental related sciences. Her research and teaching deals with aesthetic educational processes that link everyday aesthetics, science and design in the field of textile manifestations between fashion and design theories. Thematic research projects such as body and dress, living or things were published in textbooks, school books and specialist journals, conferences and lectures.
