Iris Preuß-Buchholz (born June 7, 1957 in Solingen ) is a teacher and was a member of the SPD in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia until May 31, 2017.

biography

Iris Preuß-Buchholz studied history / social sciences for secondary level II at the comprehensive university in Wuppertal from 1977 to 1985 and graduated with the second state examination. After a family break, she worked as a research assistant from 1999 onwards for various members of the state and Bundestag.

From 1999 to 2009 she was a lay judge at the juvenile court. She lives in Solingen , is married and has a son.

politics

Iris Preuß-Buchholz has been a member of the SPD since 1977 and is active in various municipal political functions and mandates.

She was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since February 10, 2009, initially as a replacement for the late SPD MP Ulrike Apel-Haefs . It moved into the 15th state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia as the 7th on the state reserve list. In 2012 she won the constituency of Solingen (34) directly.

Most recently she was a full member of the Committee on Innovation, Science, Research and Technology and the Committee on Schools and Continuing Education and the Committee on Petitions.

For family reasons, she decided not to run again for the 17th state parliament.

She was elected chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group in the City Council of Solingen on October 28, 2015, and thus succeeded Tim Kurzbach .
