The Landtag constituency of Solingen I (organizational number 34) is one of currently 128 constituencies in North Rhine-Westphalia , each of which sends a member directly elected by a simple majority to the Landtag .

The district 34 Solingen I includes the urban district of Solingen with the exception of the urban district of Gräfrath (which belongs to the state electoral district of Wuppertal III - Solingen II ).

This division has existed since 2005. Before that, Solingen had two constituencies. From 1980 to 1995, Solingen I included Mitte and Burg / Höhscheid, Solingen II included Grefrath, Ohligs / Aufderhöhe / Merscheid and Wald. In 2000 the constituencies were redefined: The constituency Solingen I - Wuppertal IV comprised the urban districts of Wald, of Ohligs / Aufderhöhe / Merscheid the district of Ohligs and Gräfrath except for a local electoral district and of Wuppertal the districts of Vohwinkel and part of Elberfeld-West . Solingen II thus included the city districts of Mitte and Burg / Höhscheid and of Ohligs / Aufderhöhe / Merscheid the district of Aufderhöhe and a municipal electoral district of Gräfrath.
