The state constituency Essen I - Mülheim II is a state electoral district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It includes the districts IV and V in the north of Essen as well as the local electoral district Winkhausen of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr .

The constituency was rebuilt for the 2005 state election . In the course of the constituency reduction, Mülheim and Essen together lost three constituencies. Mülheim previously had two constituencies, Essen six. As early as the state elections in 2000 , the declining population development in Mülheim meant that one constituency was expanded to include the Essen districts of Haarzopf (III) and Schönebeck (IV). Essen I comprised the district III (today Essen III ) from 1980 to 2000. The districts IV and V formed the constituency of Essen II , with the exception of Altenessen , which belonged to Essen III .
