The regional constituency of Aachen III is a regional constituency in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was rebuilt for the state elections in 2010 and includes the communities Alsdorf , Baesweiler , Herzogenrath and Würselen in the Aachen city region .

history

For the 1980 state elections, the constituencies were redesigned to take account of the territorial reform. So two constituencies were created in the Aachen district, the so-called northern district of Aachen covered district Aachen II . State election in 1990, the constituency lost part of Alsdorf, 2000, he also lost a part of Würselen and was in the district of Aachen I renamed. In 2005 the constituencies returned to their old form, but with changed names compared to 1980. After the Aachen district was dissolved on October 21, 2009 and replaced by the Aachen city region, the constituency was named Aachen III from 2010 onwards .

In addition to the constituency member Eva-Maria Voigt-Küppers, who has held the constituency for the SPD since 2010, the FDP direct candidate Werner Pfeil was elected to the state parliament via his state list position 12. The CDU candidate and former member of the state parliament Hendrik Schmitz initially left the parliament because the CDU state list did not move, but moved up on June 13, 2019 for his deceased party friend Holger Müller .
