The state constituency Mettmann I (organizational number 36) is one of currently 128 constituencies in North Rhine-Westphalia , each of which sends a member directly elected by a simple majority to the state parliament .

The constituency 36 Mettmann I includes the towns of Langenfeld , Monheim and some constituencies in the south of Hilden in the Mettmann district . The division of community Hilden took place for the first time to state election 2000. Previously, she was still completely Mettmann I .

In addition to the elected constituency member Claudia Schlottmann from the CDU, who was able to recapture the constituency for her party after five years, Moritz Körner, who moved into parliament as the state chairman of the Young Liberals on position 16 on the FDP state list, was another direct candidate elected to the constituency in the state parliament. The previous constituency member Jens Geyer of the SPD was only secured in 62nd place on the state list of his party and thus left the state parliament. Körner stepped down from office on June 26, 2019 after being elected to the European Parliament.
