The state constituency Mönchengladbach I is a state constituency in Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia . It includes the city districts of Giesenkirchen , Odenkirchen , Rheydt- Mitte and -West, Volksgarten and Wickrath , which were dissolved on October 22, 2009, however, and merged into the city districts of East and Mönchengladbach South . However, the area will remain in place for the 2010 state election. It has existed in this form since the state elections in 1980 (the area only differed slightly in 2000).

100,000 residents of the constituency were eligible to vote in the 2012 state elections . The turnout was 57.5%.

In the state election on May 14, 2017, Frank Boss (CDU) won the constituency for the first time with 37.8% of the first votes and was able to recapture it from the CDU after five years. The previous constituency member Hans-Willi Körfges obtained a mandate in the state parliament through the SPD state list.
