Hans-Willi Körfges (born June 1, 1954 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German SPD politician and has been a member of the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia since June 2, 2000 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1974, Körfges studied law at the University of Bonn from 1976 to 1978 and at the University of Cologne from 1978 to 1981 . He passed the first state examination in 1981, the second in 1984. Since October 1984 he has been working as an independent lawyer in Mönchengladbach- Giesenkirchen .

Körfges has been a member of the SPD since 1970. From 1984 to 1989 he was chairman of the SPD local association Mönchengladbach-Giesenkirchen. From 1989 to 1995 and again from August 2000 to June 2007 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district Mönchengladbach. From May 2000 to December 31, 2001 he was a member of the Lower Rhine District Executive of the SPD. Since December 15, 2001 he has been a member of the state executive committee of the NRW-SPD. Since March 13, 2004 he has been a member of the presidium of the North Rhine-Westphalian SPD and chairman of the local council. From 1994 to June 2000 he was a member of the Mönchengladbach city council and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

Since June 2, 2000, Körfges has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the early state elections on May 13, 2012, Körfges was directly elected with 41.1 percent in constituency 49 . Thereafter, Körfges also held the position of deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

Körfges is married and has three children.
