history

The electoral district of Arnsberg, which comprised the then Arnsberg district from 1947 to 1970, is considered the predecessor of today's constituency . For the state election in 1975 he gave up the office of Warstein to the constituency of Lippstadt , for the 1980 election it was adapted to the new district boundaries ( Balve went to the constituency of Märkischer Kreis IV ) and only included the communities of Arnsberg and Sundern. In the state elections in 2000 , this constituency operated under the name Hochsauerlandkreis II , at that time there was a constituency called Hochsauerlandkreis I - Soest III , see Landtag constituency Hochsauerlandkreis II . In 2005, the constituency got its old name back and was to help communities Eslohe and Schmallenberg the dissolved constituency Hochsauerlandkreis III - Siegen-Wittgenstein I expanded.

The constituency (apart from Joachim Westermann from the SPD) was always won by the CDU.
