Theodor Schwefer

Theodor Schwefer (born February 21, 1930 in Neheim , Arnsberg district ; † February 27, 2015 ) was a German CDU politician .

education and profession

Theodor Schwefer attended elementary school and grammar school, where he received his Abitur in 1950. He studied law at the University of Cologne, and in 1954 he took his first state examination in law. In 1958 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur., in the same year he also passed the second state examination in law. In 1959 he became an associate lawyer. From 1958 to 1964 he worked as an employee of a company association. In 1964 he became managing director and at the same time he was admitted to the Arnsberg district court. From 1984 to 1994 he was managing director of Westdeutsche Lotterie GmbH , Cologne.

politics

Theodor Schwefer had been a member of the CDU since 1965. In 1973 he took over the chairmanship of the CDU Sauerland / Siegerland district association. He was a member of the board of the CDU Westphalia-Lippe and the presidium of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia.

Theodor Schwefer was a member of the 7th and 8th state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia from July 26, 1970 to May 28, 1980 , to which he entered via the state list. From May 29, 1980 to May 29, 1985 he was directly elected member of the 9th Landtag for constituency 142 Hochsauerlandkreis I. In 1980, Schwefer became deputy parliamentary group chairman.

Tax offense

Until 1999, Schwefer was a member and for many years chairman of the administrative board of Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne. In 1999 he had to hand over the chairmanship to Ludwig Jörder due to the investigation against him for tax offenses and resign from his seat on the board of directors.

In 2000 the Arnsberg Regional Court sentenced him to 14 months' probation for evasion of 904,506 DM. Schwefer was involved in the West-LB scandal and had moved large amounts to an account in Switzerland in order to avoid the withholding tax.
