Klaus Kaiser (born March 6, 1957 in Bremen (Ense) ) is a German CDU politician . Since June 2, 2000 he has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and there until 2017 deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. In the Laschet cabinet he has been Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia since June 30, 2017.

Life

education and profession

After graduating from the Franz-Stock-Gymnasium in Arnsberg in 1976 , Kaiser studied history, English and pedagogy from 1976 to 1982 for a higher teaching post at the University of Münster . Since 1984 he has been a full-time educational assistant at the adult education center for the Hochsauerland district , of which he was director from 1992 to 2000. He is married and has two children.

politics

Kaiser has been a member of the CDU since 1974. From 1986 to 2000 he was chairman of the CDU city association Arnsberg and then he became district chairman of the CDU in the Hochsauerland district. In 2011 he was elected as the successor to Eckhard Uhlenberg as district chairman of the CDU South Westphalia. In addition to the state parliament mandate, he has also been a member of the Arnsberg City Council since 1979 and has been chairman of the CDU parliamentary group since 1994 . In the state elections in 2000 he was elected to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the first time. He moved into parliament on June 2, 2000 through a direct mandate in constituency 143 ( Hochsauerlandkreis II ). There he was cultural policy spokesman from 2004 to 2005 and education policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group from 2005 to 2010. In the state elections in 2005 , 2010 , 2012 and 2017 , he was re-elected through a direct mandate in constituency 124 ( Hochsauerlandkreis I ).

At the beginning of the 15th electoral term, he is deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the state parliament of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
