Klaus-Dieter Kaiser

Klaus-Dieter Kaiser (born November 3, 1935 in Erfurt ; † December 1, 2015 in Berlin ) was a German historian and teacher .

Life

Kaiser studied history , French and Latin at the Free University in Berlin from 1955 to 1960 and passed both state exams for teaching at grammar schools . He went to France for a long time and from 1963 worked at the French Gymnasium in Berlin, where he was most recently appointed director of studies .

In 1973 he received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin with a dissertation on the integration of the formerly independent north German troops into the Prussian army in the years after 1866 as Dr. phil. In 1976 Kaiser was elected chairman of the Berlin State Association of the Association of German History Teachers . Since 1996 he has been its honorary chairman . In 1984 the French government made him Knight des Ordre des Palmes Académiques , one of the highest honors in France for services to French education. In 1992 Kaiser became a member of the Erfurt History and Archeology Association . From 2001 to 2005 he was the club's chairman. Kaiser is the author of numerous specialist publications, mainly on the subject of Prussian military history.

Klaus-Dieter Kaiser died on December 1, 2015, at the age of 80, after a short, serious illness in Berlin. He was buried in the Heidefriedhof in Berlin-Mariendorf .
