Association for the history and archeology of Erfurt

The Erfurt History and Archeology Association is one of the oldest history associations in Thuringia . Its main task is the research and dissemination of the history of the city of Erfurt . It is based in the Haus zum Stockfisch , the main building of the Erfurt City Museum .

History and tasks

The association was founded in 1863. For DDR -time he did not exist more, but was revived after the political changes. Since 1865, the association has been issuing the Announcements of the Association for the History and Archeology of Erfurt (MVGAE) annually. Each volume contains articles, a review section, an annual archaeological report, an Erfurt bibliography, an annual chronicle and news from the association. In addition, the association maintains two other series.

In addition, the association organizes specialist conferences, the Monday lectures, the "Geschichtskräzchen" and is co-organizer of the Erfurt synagogue evenings .

The association promotes the exchange of information between historians and lay people. He participates in the cultural life of the city and in discussions in the areas of history , culture of remembrance and monument preservation .
