The state constituency Mettmann IV (organizational number 39) is one of currently 128 constituencies in North Rhine-Westphalia , each of which sends a member directly elected by a simple majority to the state parliament .

The constituency 39 Mettmann IV includes the district towns of Velbert and Wülfrath as well as some constituencies in the north of the town of Mettmann in the Mettmann district . The division of the district town of Mettmann took place for the first time in the state elections in 2005. Before that, it belonged entirely to Mettmann II .

The constituency is represented in the state parliament for the first time by the directly elected MP Martin Sträßer, who recaptured the direct mandate from the SPD after five years. The previous constituency member Volker Münchow resigned from parliament because his 117th place on the SPD state list was not enough for a mandate.
